Principal's Report

High Expectations of all…..

At Langwarrin we can decide to continue keeping status quo or we can decide to strive for excellence in every aspect of school life.

I want to utilise this year to raise the bar.  To always look at ways to do better and instill this in our students.

For our students this means:

  • Arriving to school on time and being ready to learn
  • Wearing full school uniform including school hats
  • Not visiting the office or sickbay unless absolutely necessary
  • Always showing our school values: Respect, Resilience and Responsibility
  • Completing set homework and assignments
  • Looking out for others and helping out where needed

For parents this means:

  • Supporting your child with their homework (especially reading)
  • Scheduling appointments for your child outside of school hours (if possible)
  • Logging student absence on SENTRAL
  • Paying for excursions etc. on time
  • Keeping your child home if exhibiting symptoms such as a runny nose, sore throat or cough
  • Sending your child to school on their birthday
  • Discussing what went well during the school day
  • Treating our staff with the utmost respect

For all of our school staff this means:

  • Setting a good example for students out in the yard by wearing a broad brim hat
  • Being available to parents after school by coming out on yard duty
  • Following up parent concerns/issues in a timely manner
  • Being organised and planned for the week’s lessons (following the LPS instructional model)
  • Contacting parents when necessary
  • Treating parents with the utmost respect

I love this community. I love our school.  When we work together the outcomes we can achieve can be endless. 2021 is shaping up to be our most successful year yet!

School Council Nominations

It is that time again when we are calling for School Council members.

There are 5 parent positions currently available.

If I receive more than 5 nominations for parent positions then I need to call a ballot. In that case I will communicate this with you all and how you can cast your vote.  In the meantime, if you would like to either nominate yourself or nominate someone else please come into the office and collect a nomination form.

We usually have 2 School Council meetings per term on Wednesday evenings starting at 6.30pm.

School councils have three main responsibilities:

  • Finance: overseeing the development of the school’s annual budget and ensuring proper records are kept of the school’s financial operation
  • Strategic planning: participating in the development and monitoring of the school strategic plan
  • Policy development and review: developing, reviewing and updating policies that reflect our school values and support the school’s broad direction outlined in its strategic plan.

School Council members are also on one sub-committee held on the same evening as School Council.
