WELCOME TO LIBRARY 2021!

Scholastic Bookclub

Eight times a year (twice a term) Book Club pamphlets from Scholastic Book Club will be given out to students (K-6). Issue 1 order forms will be sent home this week and orders will close on Wednesday 17 February. The school has joined the online ‘LOOP’ system for all purchases using credit card payments. Once filled, your order will be delivered to the school and we will forward on to your child. When Book Club forms are handed out the date for closing orders will be published in the following newsletter. It will take approximately two weeks for the orders to arrive after the closing date. There is no obligation to buy. Last year our library received many free resources as a result of the support from students and families. This was greatly appreciated!

Library Days

Library borrowing days are as follows:

Monday – 3/4 Aqua, 2/3 Green, K/1 Lavender, 6 Jade

Tuesday – 3/4 White, 1/2 Blue, 1/2 Pink, 5 Silver, 5 Red

Friday – K Orange, 4 Lime

All K-6 students will have a library lesson once a week for a session where they will learn library skills and participate in lessons based on the History curriculum. Children who would like to borrow for home will need to either have a library bag or pillow case to protect the books being transported to and from school.

Years 3-6 students will participate in the Daily 5 reading program where each student will borrow 5 books from the library at one time. Daily 5 books will be kept in the classroom for use during the day and will be changed every 3 weeks.

All students K-6 will be participating in the Premier’s Reading Challenge which will be completed at school. Any students in years 7-9 who want to complete the challenge will need to come and see me in the library.

Unfortunately there are a few students who still have outstanding loans from 2020, and these books will need to be returned or paid for before students can borrow in 2021.

The library is open at lunchtime for reading and activities for students. I look forward to meeting all students this week.
