Primary Swimming Carnival Report
It was a beautiful day as the teachers and students walked down to the pool for the Primary Swimming Carnival. When we arrived, we started to set up in our houses and it was nice to see people supporting their houses by wearing their house colours and making posters at home. Everyone was cheering and supporting people who had difficulty swimming.
Everyone swam their hardest. We had four records broken and one record equalled. Zoe Strahorn broke the Girls Open 100m, Ayden Penson equalled the previous record in 10yr Boys Freestyle, Ben Brazier broke the 29yr Senior Boys Breaststroke record and Zoe broke her second record for the day in the 11yr Girls Backstroke. It was a close race in the Junior Medley. Both George Davis and Ayden Penson broke the old record, however George Davis still holds onto it from last year.
The Cork Bob was a fun event for everyone! Corks were thrown into the water with everyone involved bringing them back to their house captains to count. The house with most corks won. Lawson smashed the other houses getting a total of 207 corks!
The relays were amazing. Everyone started off strong and water was going everywhere. These were the winners for each relay. Junior boys = Paterson, Senior Boys = Paterson, Junior Girls = Paterson and Senior girls was….. Lawson! Everyone did a great job.
It was time for the Parent, Teacher, Student race. Everyone gathered for it and the House leaders swam for the students. All the relay teams started off strong, however the parents came through as the winners. Chelsea tried her very best for Mitchell and everyone cheered her on to make it to the end. Then everyone at the pool sang her Happy Birthday.
All the houses made sure to clean their areas and pack up to go home. There were not too many sunburnt kids, however everyone was tired and not looking forward to the walk up the hill back to school. It was a great day and everyone did an amazing job. Thank you to all the Parents and Teachers for organising and running it.
