Curriculum Day - Student Free, Friday 13th March
As advised to parents via email, our previously advertised student free curriculum day on Friday 20 March has now been re-scheduled to Friday 13 March 2020. Students are not to attend school on this day.
Our stage 1A building is progressing well and this change in date is to accommodate the requirement to switch power off at the College site for the day in order to update our power supply and connect power to the new building.
Due to the whole site having no power this also means we are unable to offer a TheirCare program onsite that day. By sending out this notice at our earliest advice, we are trusting you are able to make alternative plans for your children for care for that day.
School will resume as normal on Monday 16 March 2020.
Parent Information Nights
Thank you to those who attended the Parent Information Nights this week. We enjoyed the opportunity to share our classroom spaces, curriculum plans and information with you. Please direct any questions in regard to the content from this evening to the classroom teachers, they can provide a printed or email copy of the content from your child's specific grade.
Thank you Wyndham City Church
Our College staff and families were welcomed and honoured last Sunday 9th February during the church service at Wyndham City Church. Mr Mathews and Mr Cliffe had an opportunity to share some stories and about how far we've come in the last 12 months and our plans going forward with the church community. Andriya from Grade 3 prayed for all our staff for the year, for wisdom, health and strength. The church community then also blessed us with a lovely lunch. Thank you!
Car Park Safety
Our building is progressing well which sees a number of trade vehicles and large trucks entering and exiting our car park regularly.
We'd like to request your patience and cooperation to set a high standard of expectation, by example, regarding speed and following regulations and arrows in the car park. Please use the appropriate pedestrian crossings and be extra vigilant walking to and from the car with your little ones in particular.
Kiss and Drop Bay
Please do not leave your car to drop off/collect your child from the classroom in this zone, they should make their way to the kiss and drop bay for collection. Designed for quick entry and exit, this concept is to minimise congestion and risk when used properly by all parents and carers. This area operates under the same conditions as no parking zones, which means you may stop to drop off or pick up children for a maximum of 2 minutes. You're required to remain in, or within 3 metres of your vehicle.
Thank you for your help in keeping our College community safe.
Attendance & Absences
Attendance at school is compulsory for all students between the ages of 6 and 17. We encourage parents / guardians to ensure that absences are for unavoidable reasons such as illness. Please log your child's absence into Compass via the parent portal or telephone the Absentee Line (03) 8740 4779 before 9.00am on the day of the absence.
Students who are clearly unwell before school should remain at home for the day in the interest of themselves and others. Students who are unwell and present with vomiting and diarrhoea are suggested to remain home for 24 hours or until fever free for 24 hours without medication.
Student Support Group Meetings (selected students)
Information has been emailed directly to selected families in regard to upcoming Student Support Group Meetings and student Individual Learning Plans (ILP's)
This provides those families an opportunity to discuss their child’s specific learning needs for 2020. Inviting them to partner with us by attending a Student Support Group (SSG) meeting with the child’s Classroom Teacher to discuss his/her learning needs. These meetings have 30 minute time slots and are scheduled for Tuesday 25 February and Thursday 27 February. Bookings are made via the Compass Parent Portal login. Please contact College Reception should you require any assistance for access or navigation of Compass.

School Banking
Wyndham Christian College is excited to offer the Commonwealth Bank School Banking program to all students. Participating in school banking is optional but a great opportunity to teach your children about saving money.
School Banking is a fun, interactive and engaging way for young Australians to learn about money and develop good savings habits.
School Banking is also a great fundraiser for our school. Our school receives a Regular Savers Contribution of $5 for every 10 deposits processed per student as well as an Annual Contribution which is based on the number of students who made at least one School Banking deposit in the prior year.
All you need to get involved in the School Banking program is a Commonwealth Bank Youthsaver account.
You can open an account for your child in one of two ways:
1. Online
Visit commbank.com.au/schoolbanking and click on the link to open a Youthsaver account.
2. In branch
Visit a Commonwealth Bank branch with identification for yourself and your child, like a driver’s licence and birth certificate.
If your child has an existing Commonwealth Bank Youthsaver account they can start banking straight away. They just need to bring their deposit in every week on School Banking day using their Dollarmites deposit wallet.
School Banking day will be Friday. Each week you need to hand your Dollarmite book with Deposit slip and stub completed to the classroom Teacher.

Before & After School Care
This service is provided on school days from 6.30am - 8.30 am and 3.10 pm - 6.30 pm. This program is fully accredited by the government and access to government rebates applies on fees. Parents/ guardians can enrol their primary aged children as either a permanent or casual booking. More information can be found on the website https://theircare.com.au/
The College suggests that families register their primary aged children casually in case an emergency arises. It is College policy that primary children not collected by 3.45pm are placed in after-school care, without exception, and costs charged to the parents.
