Performing Arts & Music at BPPS

Assembly Guest Performers 2020

Are you a musician currently at a Grade 4 musical level or above? Are you a keen performer who would like to show case your musical talents?  Come and visit Miss Poor to put your name down for a performance spot at one of our upcoming assemblies.

Grade 3/4 Recorder & Book Purchase

A vibrant part of the Grade 3/4 classroom Music program at B.P.P.S., is our recorder program. This program has been running for many years and has continued to be a successful tool in reinforcing and strengthening music concepts learnt throughout the curriculum, including rhythm and pitch.

This year we are continuing to use the 'Essential Elements Recorder Classroom Method', which means all Grade 4 students can retain the book they used in 2019 (Note: Grade 3s will need to keep this book for Grade 4 in 2021).

In our effort to reduce waste we are using online payments for this program. All payments for Grade 3s are visible on PORTAL 2 on Sentral, and we ask that payment be made online.

There will be two payments listed on the Portal:

  • Grade 3/4 Recorder Program - RECORDER($8.00)
  • Grade 3/4 Recorder Program - ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS BOOK($10.00)

Please read the email sent to Grade 3/4 families at the start of the year with all relevant information.

Payments should have been made by 7 February 2020, and children whose parents have paid have already been given their book and recorder ready for the start of the program.

If you have any questions relating to this payment, please contact Llaaneath Poor or Litsa Nedelkov (Office).

Seesaw - Foundation-Grade 2

This year in Performing Arts, we are using the application Seesaw to develop digital portfolios as well as share our work in the classroom with families! Your child will post to Seesaw to share their learning. Seesaw is private; you will only see posts created by your child.

We encourage you to ‘like’ or comment on your child’s work as a means of providing them with feedback.

Please see the email sent to Foundation & Grade 1/2 families last week regarding how to sign up for this.

Musical Ensembles 2020

We are very fortunate at Boroondara Park P.S. to be able to offer a variety of performing opportunities through our ensembles program.

If your child is interested in joining either Junior Choir or Senior Choir, we ask that you read the email sent to families last week regarding ensembles and complete the relevant permission forms.  Please read the forms carefully as some ensembles have requirements.

Please note that Combined Girls and Boys Vocal Group is a select entry ensemble, and members for this auditioned and were notified at the end of last year.

Those who were members of the African drumming ensemble in 2019 will continue to have a place in this ensemble in 2020, but if your child is in Grade 5 or 6 and is interested in applying for the African Drumming Ensemble, please see read the email sent to Grade 5/6 families last week.
