Par for the Course

At the beginning of the Term 4, Year 5 had an opportunity to participate in a 3 week Golf Development Program. The first two weeks were conducted at school, led by Shelly Beach Golf Club Assistant Professional, Leigh McKecknie. The final week saw 48 students attend Shelly Beach Golf Club to put into practice the skills learnt at school. Over the course of the day all students rotated between long hitting, chipping and putting activities.

A huge thanks to the at Shelly Beach Golf Club Professionals Leigh McKecknie and Jason Hart, Shelly Beach Golf Club’s Junior Development Officer, Red Bus driver Mick Lamaro and Mark Ingrey from Jack Newton Junior Golf, for their time and effort in getting this program up and running. Also, thanks to Shelly Beach Golf Club Board members and Greenkeepers for ensuring the course was available to our students, in particular the 9 hole putting course set up on the practice putting green, which was a huge hit. This is sure to be a program that we hope to keep running well into the future.

For anyone wishing to get their children into golf, please contact the Professional staff at Shelly Beach Professional shop on 43321103 for further details. Junior coaching programs are held on a regular basis, and for those who do not have any golf clubs, don’t worry, these can be supplied to anyone who require them.  Thank you, Mr Stephen

A Blinder!

On Wednesday 27th, 58 Stage 3 students attended an NRL League Touch Day at Berkeley Vale Ovals. The weather gods were on our side. After having several 30 degree plus days, the temperature dropped to a nice 22 degrees for the day. Our six teams played six games each over the course of the day, with plenty of tries and subsequent teams songs being heard all over the ground.

A big thanks to Bianca and her team from the National Rugby League (NRL) on the Coast. Days such as these are organised by the NRL to allow all schools to enter more than one team to participate, and they are run for FREE!  At BAPS we attempt to send as many teams as we can manage to allow for the greatest participation. Stage 2 recently sent 4 teams to a similar day in Doyalson. Between the 2 days, nearly 100 students participated, a great achievement for our school. Well done to all!
