Clontarf Corner

Education

Year 10 members have been a focus at the back end of Term 3 and into Term 4.  Clontarf members have had one on one meetings with school Careers Advisors, Year Advisors and Clontarf staff to help define what subjects they want to commit to in their final years of schooling. Clontarf staff have also made time available for these young men to catch up on any outstanding school work. The young men have made some positive choices in completing these tasks.  We encourage any Clontarf member to come to our ‘catch up club’ which runs every Thursday after school for an hour.  Teachers and Clontarf staff will be on hand to help and a healthy snack is provided to keep the brain going.

Wellbeing

A small group of Clontarf members earnt themselves a day out.  The aim of the day was to spend some time defining how they are leaders within our school.  Students were identified by Clontarf staff and school staff to be potential leaders of the future.  They had some great discussions and took part in some great activities such as the Indigenous walk around Bass Point, leadership workshop/discussion, Indigenous artefacts tour and, to end the day, we played some mini golf.  The young men enjoyed talking about why they are leaders and who they look up to as role models.  The group learnt the importance of representing their families and peoples inside and outside of school.  Well done to the young leaders.

Sport

Clontarf morning trainings have been back for a few weeks now.  The young men are back into routine with pick ups starting from 6:00 a.m.  The feeling that we have at training is plenty of laughs, plenty of running around and plenty of Clontarf spirit shown by all the lads.  The lads are fed with a healthy breakfast and then go into Roll Call in good spirits.  We thank the families and school for the support of these young men.  Keep working hard, lads, and the rewards will come to you, now that camps are back on.
