World Teacher’s Day

By Lance Davidson (Vice Principal)

Friday 30th October is World Teacher’s Day. A day in which the work of teachers is recognised, acknowledged and celebrated. 2020 has been a year unlike any other and has turned into a time when most of us have had to do some teaching with our children. Through the challenging period of ‘Learn from Home’, everyone had to carry some of the load.

Teachers did a fantastic job of adjusting to preparing and teaching lessons online, changing up assessment tasks, finding creative ways to teach practical subjects and looking out for ways to support those who were not coping too well.

Parents took on an aspect of teaching at home. Maybe it was creating a classroom environment, maybe it was being the Maths tutor, maybe it was setting the timetable for the day, maybe it was being the teacher on recess duty or maybe it was being the canteen manager putting together lunch options. We all did our bit to try and keep things going and helping our kids to stay on track with their learning.

Well done to both the teachers here on the ground at school and to those of you at home who have supported what we do. Teaching is something we all do whether our children are at school or at home. It is something we partner in together.

Here at BHCS our desire is to see our students, your children, thriving and doing well, academically, physically and spiritually. We are keen to point them to Jesus, as the one that will direct their paths and help them to live a full life, one filled with hope and purpose.

Proverbs 22:6 says, ‘Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.’
