How can we support good mental health for our kids?

The effects of the COVID-19 pandemic are not just limited to ‘number of infections’ or ‘number of deaths’ per day, nor the massive economic costs mounting from lock downs. These matters are alarming, and as parents, we are also deeply concerned for the mental health of our kids. The good news is that we can ‘get on the front foot’ and take steps to support good mental health for ourselves and our families. Here are some tips:

  • Good mental health helps your child develop socially, emotionally, mentally and physically.
  • Loving relationships are key to children’s mental health.
  • Learning to manage feelings is important to mental health, as are rules and guidelines for behaviour.
  • Physical activity and healthy eating habits build your child’s mental health.
