TECA 2020

A brilliant Rochester Secondary College tradition is the TECA speeches at Year 7.  Students speak to the theme of "Through Effort Comes Achievement" and speak about people who through their eyes exemplify this motto.

We had six outstanding speeches in the competition this year;

  • Nat Moon spoke about her two sisters and her mother who demonstrate great persistance and effort to acheive every day.
  • Letisha Mountjoy spoke her mother and the great effort she goes to to provide so many opportunities for her family.
  • Amy Pascoe spoke about Turia Pitt and Malala Yousafzai, Turia overcome incredible physical injuries to inspire others and Malala also overcame adversity to fight for the rights for females to have an education.
  • Pepper Bannon spoke about the admiration she has for her mother, her grandmother and her aunty and the efforts they display to provide for their families.
  • Flynn Pain spoke about both his mother and father and the work they do to support their family and provide so many opportunities for himself and his siblings.  Flynn also spoke about Hugh van Cuylenburg and his amazing work with The Resilience Project.
  • Trey White spoke about his mother and how she cares for him and his siblings, Jim Stynes and his incredible work with the Reach program and the achievements of NBA player Giannis Antetokounmpo which included his humanitarian work.

Congratulations to Trey White who won the TECA 2020 award in what was an exceptionally close competition.  All students displayed our Rochester Secondary College GROWS values - GROWTH, RESPECT, OPTIMISM, WELLBEING and SUPPORT and we are super proud of each of them.
