Term 4 Update

Naa Mari,

As always, this term is certainly flying by and we are at the half way mark. Teachers are busy writing reports for the end of 2020 and formulating classes for 2021. There is always so much to do. It is also the time to reflect and celebrate achievements as the year concludes.

All staff at LNPS are very proud of recent data that demonstrates significant growth in learning and approaches to learning across the entire school. This growth and achievement would not be possible without the passion and dedication of our staff.  Our improvement goals as set on the Site Improvement Plan are having a significant impact on improving student learning outcomes.

PFD

The Pupil Free Day on Monday saw staff celebrate growth in both student learning and teacher practice over 2020, investigate new practice and plan goals to improve teacher practice. The research is clear: improvement only lifts student growth and achievement when teachers and leaders change their practice. To do so, we need to research new teaching practices to address the challenges of practice in our relevant goal areas and decide on the most effective, evidence-based new practices to try.

This was a wonderful day of learning and we are excited to move into next year to consolidate on our current goals/approaches  and implement our next steps.

Sports Day

What a magnificent event our staff and students put on last Thursday.  Congratulations must go to the winners, Grallina, who narrowly edged out Pierson,  Brian and Malurus  house teams.

LNPS students are to be congratulated for their efforts and attitudes demonstrated throughout the day. It was great to see all of our students trying their hardest in both the individual and team events, supporting and cheering on their own team as well as the competition.

The day would not have been possible without the detailed planning and organisation from our teachers and support staff. We would like to acknowledge the efforts and commitment of the Sports Day committee for taking the time out of their personal lives to make the day happen. The LNPS community thanks you for your dedication and hard work!

A special thank you to the LNPS captains, vice captains and Health Hustle leaders for contributing significant efforts towards all students from Reception to Year 7 in feeling valued and motivated on Sports Day.

A further thank you to our Governing Council and parent volunteers who helped manage the entry and exit.

To our parents, and the wider school community, a huge thank you for your support and encouragement.  The amount of support that the community gives to LNPS events is greatly appreciated. Our parents invest a lot of time and interest in our school and it reflects the strength of our school community.

Reports & Class Placement

End of year student reports, 2020 class placements and 2020 Materials and Services charges will be distributed to families on Friday 4th December. Reports will be published and available in the Sentral Parent Portal from 12pm and class placement and Materials and Services via paper with students.

Governing Council

The Governing Council at Lockleys North Primary School is a hard working group of parents and staff who work collaboratively to provide a quality learning environment for your children.

Its members are responsive to any issues that arise and their role is to determine the views of our local community with regards to the educational needs of the school. The Governing Council informs the Principal of these views and needs.

We have 3 vacancies starting 2021 and are calling for nominations from members of the school community to stand for Council. Councillors elected serve for two years.

Meetings are for about 2 hours (7.00-9.00pm) twice a term.  If you would like further information in regards to Governing Council or would like to nominate for a vacancy please email

tyson.grinham428@schools.sa.edu.au by Wednesday 25th November.

There will be an election of people after this date in which the whole school community is provided a voting slip if we have more nominations than vacancies.

We encourage parents to get involved and stand for election to Council.
