Year 7 Learning Centre Building Update

The construction of our new Year 7 Learning Centre has been an exciting journey for the College. Over the school holiday period, more progress was made as we become closer and closer to final completion.

Whilst stage 4 restrictions had significantly slowed down the construction progress, we're pleased to announce that with the slight easing of restrictions, 85% of the workforce are now allowed back on site. We are now predicting a completed date by the end of November 2020. Watch this space, as we will continue to update you with progress.

More mental health support in 2021: A government initiative

In recognition of the increased mental health challenges posed by COVID-19, the Victorian Government has fast-tracked a roll-out for all secondary schools across the state to receive funding for a mental health practitioner.

As a result, we are pleased to announce that DSC will receive funding for a full-time mental health practitioner from the beginning of Term 3, 2021.

The mental health practitioner will complement our existing Wellbeing Team, offering direct student support, coordinating support for students with complex needs, and contributing to our whole-school approach to mental health.

Our current Wellbeing Team includes a counsellor and youth worker, as well as highly-skilled and knowledgeable teaching staff.

We are excited to be one step closer to offering even more support to our students through this wonderful new initiative.
