We are thrilled to have welcomed back our Year 7, 11 and 12 students to the College.  The Sub School Teams worked enthusiastically to ensure a smooth transition and we know you were working at home to prepare your children for the shift from remote learning to onsite learning.

We are now preparing for the return of our Year 8, Year 9 and Year 10 students.  There’s nothing like teaching in person, but we again want to acknowledge the vast amount of work done by the teachers of your children to provide challenging, engaging and meaningful learning under the most incredible conditions.

Some challenges may be experienced by children (and adults!) as they leave the safety of their home environment, where minimal face-to-face contact with others has been possible.  Arriving at school with so many faces and voices and so much activity may prove to be both testing and tiring.

Teachers’ and parents’ patience will be tested whilst our young people readjust to the busy life of an adolescent at school.  Please make a routine of checking in with your child, how they are feeling and empower them to be the master of their emotions.  Just as we are doing here at school, teach them the language they need to express themselves, their fears, frustrations and joy.  Our children are remarkably resilient as we have seen in so many positive chronicles over the remote learning period.

We have made adjustments to our usual scheduling for Term 4 to ensure your child’s learning time is maximised.  Keep an eye on the Compass notification for events specific to your child.  Children in Years 7, 8 and 9 will have some special opportunities in the curriculum mid-way through the term (watch this space!) and will continue classes right up to the end of Term 4.

As always, we love hearing from our community members so don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have anything to share.

Safety Reminder: School Pick-Up and Drop-Off Zone

With students returning to school, we would like to remind parents of safety issues around the school pick-up and drop-off zone located on Church Road.

This area is designed to improve safety for students and to reduce congestion during the busy morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up times. Please note that this zone is strictly a 1-2 minute parking spot. You must also not double park, or stop in the line of traffic to pick-up or drop-off a child, as this forces children onto the road and causes traffic congestion. Parking in the bus zone is also prohibited.

If there are no spots available in the pick-up/drop-off zone, there is plenty of parking available in neighbouring side-streets and a short walk will offer students the opportunity to improve both their physical and mental wellbeing.

Please be aware that parking regulations are enforceable by Manningham Council, so if you choose to park illegally you may be booked.

We look forward to your support to help us provide a safe environment for our children and to maintain traffic flow and allow for physical distancing during these busy times.
