Top International Students of Term Three

I wanted to congratulate the students listed below, who in Term 3, demonstrated our college values both academically and socially.

In the remote learning environment, each of them has been respectful and responsible students. More importantly, they have shown us their ability to be resilient and embrace the challenges presented to them with optimism and perseverance. Thank you!

Year 10 DSC Recharge Day

Students have been spending a lot of their time on their device screens since the start of this remote and flexible learning. In order to support our students' wellbeing, Year 10 DSC Recharge day was designed to help students to explore new skills so that they can develop their capability while being away from their screens.

Even though it was just a one-day event, we notice that the result was noteworthy as many students could find a way to leverage their learning capacity. The way to gain the knowledge is not just researching and reading in front the screen, but practical actions could benefit on their positive mindset to improve their creativities such us doing gardening, sporting, drawing and so on.

Students wellbeing and mental health are our priority. Doncaster Secondary College has been trying to deliver students with the best learning experience with the alignment of their learning capacity.

William W (10D):

Today is the day when year 10s can have a break from the computers.  I chose to do some Basketball just for the enjoyment and fun. It's been a long time that i haven't left my room, and I just feel so nice to go out, enjoy the sun and breath some fresh air. Doing some exercises like this will help to keep myself positive and energetic. It is important to take a break, so my eyes won't get extremely tired from the screen. Cannot wait for the school to start again.

Jenessa N (10B):

DSC recharge was a good day to take some time off my laptop and have some fun while developing and finding new skills and hobbies. I did some gardening with my family and spending time with them. I overall really enjoyed the day and was a good break from my usual routine.

Chloe W (10C):

I went out for a walk and played basketball with friends on Year 10 DSC recharge day. It was a great chance to get off the screen to improve my wellbeing with such a nice weather. Hanging out with friends made me realize the pandemic only lasts for a period of time. Although it's been a while, everyone has to take care of themselves and run the necessary roles when it is needed.

Jeffrey S (10C):

I am the third generation in my family who join discipline forces, so in DSC Recharge Day, I decided to do foot drill since I haven’t done it since I came to Australia. I find it a bit hard since I haven’t done it for a while but I still enjoy it.

Gloria G (10H):

On the recharge day, I was making a scarf. I watched some videos about how to knit and I started knitting my scarf. It was hard to knit, some holes are left during knitting, so I have to restart. However, I tried another method, which is easier for the knitting beginners.

Manningham Musical Recital

Jiahang L (7K)

I participated in a community music event called "Manningham musical recital" because I think it is a good practice and challenge for myself. When I was performing Guzheng which is a Chinese traditional instrument, I was representing my country to the world as music is a language to communicate between people around the globe.
