Principal's Report

Dear Parents and Guardians
As we approach the last week of the 2020 school year, we reflect and contemplate on the year that has been and what has been endured. I do not believe I need to harp on the challenges, as we all experienced them together. This term has been rewarding with the return to onsite learning and having the presence of students on the College grounds.
As we reflect, we pay tribute to the Year 12 students, who in many ways have had to be so adaptable and continue their Year 12 VCE or VCAL studies. Exams and placements are coming to an end, so each of our Year 12s will be able to celebrate the completion of thirteen (13) years of schooling. This year will be celebrated differently compared to other years. On Wednesday 2 December 2020 each Year 12 student will be presented with their ‘Certificate of Completion’. Awards will be presented, and individual photos of each Year 12 student in their graduating gown will be taken. We aim to have the photos processed immediately so each graduating student will be gifted one in celebration of this special occasion.
We hope that the 2020 Year 12 cohort will be able to celebrate their Valedictory Dinner, together with their families, Nazareth staff members and the Year 12 class of 2020 on Friday 26 February 2021.
While this is a significant year for our Year 12 students, other significant events have been missed for all year levels including:
- Year 11 Reflection Days;
- Year 10 Work Experience;
- Year 9 TAFE Taster Days;
- Year 8 City Experience;
- Year 7 Introductory Camp.
Many of these significant events will be reintroduced or doubled up in the coming year. It is hoped that these experiences will assist our students in their formation.
Staffing for next year has now been finalised, and as a school, we will be farewelling some staff over the coming weeks, while we welcome new staff members for their Induction Day on Monday 7 December 2020.

I wish Mr Christopher Seel the very best of luck as he takes time to be a stay at home Dad and the main carer of the family home. He has been a long serving staff member, loved by all and will be truly missed.
Mrs Cara Harding will be moving North, together with her husband. They return to the farm life while taking some short term teaching contracts when they are available. Cara has been a dedicated and well respected teacher.
Ms Fiona James' contract has concluded. Fiona will be teaching elsewhere in the future. Fiona has helped so many of our students with her Mathematics skills. They are all extremely grateful.
Dr Heather Wearne – Learning Leader English will be retiring from official duties at Nazareth and will commence a multitude of part time, contract work. We hope to see her at Nazareth in some capacity when she is available.
Ms Penny Adams – Accounts Officer (Payable) will be finishing at the end of this year after 17.5 years of service. An outstanding effort. We thank her for all that she has contributed to the College.
Ms Barbara Hluchanic – Executive Assistant to Principal. Barb has held this position for twelve (12) years. Her professionalism and ability to manage the office, together with daily events that occur in the Principal’s office, will be truly missed. I thank Barb for her guidance over the last four (4) years whilst I have been at Nazareth.
It is sad to see people depart, however, as one person leaves, opportunities are created for someone else to bring in their talents and make their mark.
On behalf of the College Community, I wish all the above staff members, the very best for their future.
In conclusion, I wish all of you a Holy, Safe and Joyful Christmas. May the events of this year not be forgotten, in many ways, I hope we cherish our freedom, health and the company of our families and loved ones.
May God Bless you all, and I look forward to 2021 and what it may bring.
God Bless
Mr Sam Cosentino
Principal
