As restrictions ease more of our ensembles are able to rehearse again, albeit under strict conditions. It has been wonderful to hear our winds and brass musicians playing again and we look forward to being joined by our choristers at some point soon.

Performing Arts Showcases

Students in Years 9, 10 and 11 Drama and Music classes are busily preparing for their various upcoming Showcase evenings, which will be live streamed so that families can enjoy their children’s performances. SYO Workshop

Several string players were fortunate to attend a workshop facilitated by Orange Regional Conservatorium and led by the Sydney Youth Orchestra last Saturday. The 20 piece ensemble workshopped and performed Sibelius’ Andante Festivo and Grieg’s Nordic Melody, alongside members of the SYO.

I loved taking part in the 2020 SYO workshop, which was a great opportunity to play with other people from and around Orange, especially since most other workshops would have been cancelled.

The workshop lasted for about 4 hours and the SYO members were happy to give us tips and made it fun and full of laughter throughout.

Toby Gough

Congratulations to Toby who has been awarded a Platinum Award for his efforts in Speech and Drama and a Gold Award for Voice at the Bathurst Online Eisteddfod. Toby was the recipient of 8 Platinum and 8 Gold Awards in total. It’s great to see our students embracing new skills and finding creative ways to access performance opportunities.
