From the Chaplain

Rev. Dr Rosalie Clarke

Greetings to all Kinross Wolaroi families.

Welcome to Term 4! I hope your school holiday was relaxing and provided some opportunity for renewal.

A lectionary reading for this Sunday is Deuteronomy 34:1-12.

It is the account of Moses’s death. Specifically, it tells of Moses looking out onto the ‘Promised Land’ – that is the land promised by God to the Israelites after leaving their position of slavery in Egypt. Having been their leader for 40 years and encountering all the trials and tribulations in the wilderness, Moses is given the opportunity of seeing the fulfillment of this dream from afar - but not of actually entering it.

I wonder how Moses felt standing on the rock and seeing the actual geography of the place for the first time?

I wonder what he thought about not getting to experience the dream in all its entirety?

I wonder if he still thought his imperfect faithfulness to God and the leadership of his community had been a worthwhile spend of his life’s time and energy?

Dreams – their fulfilment or non-fulfilment – impact us in all sorts of ways. How are you traveling with your dreams?

I pray that the desires of your heart come to fruition. May you be wise and faithful in their pursuit.

Love and prayers,

Rev Dr. Rosalie Clarke
