AMEB Exams

Good luck to all students who will be sitting their instrumental and speech and drama exams this week. Brass and piano were last week, with woodwind and strings on Wednesday and Thursday this week, finishing off with speech and drama on Friday. Congratulations on staying focused over the last few months and remember to stay calm, breathe and smile! Your hard work will pay off. 

Getting the Band Back Together!

We have been delighted to welcome back our Prep and Junior Bands to rehearsals this week. It was wonderful to see how excited they were to return to playing as a group and hear them rehearsing their pieces once again. We are really looking forward to hearing more from them as the term progresses.

Year 1 Strings

Our last group of string players have begun the program with great enthusiasm this week. Please remember to bring cellos in on Monday and violins in on Tuesday for lessons. Hire forms must be completed and returned to school for children to take their instruments home. We look forward to hearing how they progress during the term.

Choir – Not Choir

In the absence of being able to sing in choir this term, we have had to do some creative thinking! Children in 1-2 Choir have been learning some Auslan (Australian Sign Language) as a way of communicating. The children have been fascinated to learn the different signs and understand the importance of facial expression in communicating clearly with the hearing impaired. Last term we recorded I Can Sing A Rainbow in Auslan and I am delighted to show you the final video. Thanks to Brenton Cox for the videography. 

Music Education and Early Literacy

The benefits of learning music and enhancing literacy development in young children has been well documented. Just in case there was any doubt, here are 7 significant findings.
