12 & 11

 Assistant Principal

Ms. Laura Forster

As we draw a close to the first term of this school year, I am hoping that all students and their families have a lovely restful break, and that students return refreshed for the start of term 2.  During next term we continue have numerous events and opportunities for students to explore post-secondary school pathway options to support their goal setting and planning towards 2024 and beyond.  Students were invited to participate in the Latrobe University Careers expo on the 4th of April. This will be followed by the year 12 Careers expo on Thursday the 18th of May which starts the ball rolling on post-secondary school study options. This is a fantastic opportunity for students to investigate career and tertiary options in a range of fields, and to ask specific questions to support their individual planning and to set them off in the right direction.

Term two is always a busy one with students having to complete several assessment tasks to determine achievement in units one and three VCE, as well as VCAL task to assess competencies for the required skills. Students should try to regularly check in with their teachers to determine how they are progressing in their work and to actively seek feedback to ensure they are able to achieve their best possible results. Regular revision and study assist in developing effective study routines and minimizing stress caused by pressures associated with managing time.

The holidays are an opportune time for senior students to catch up on their revision and if not already begun, start to compile summary notes for units 1 and 3. This process not only consolidates their learning in the key knowledge and skills but will free up time in October to complete practice exams in preparation to their final VCE exams. Again, I would encourage year 12 students to log on to Edrolo to complete quizzes and chapter tests to pulse check their progress, and to take action to build up knowledge in identified areas. Senior students should also be in the practice of regularly checking in with their subject teachers about their personal progress and what they could be doing to place themselves in the best position to achieve their very best.

Progress Reports for term one will be available to all parents and students on Compass on Tuesday April 4th. These can be found under the reports tab. These provide a snap shot of students learning applications for each of their subjects. Parents are welcome to contact staff if they have any concerns regarding their child’s progress.
