2B News!!!

Over the past two weeks, we have been very busy learning about lots of exciting things. Here are some of the highlights of our recent weeks…

Harmony Day

We thoroughly enjoyed our Harmony Day celebrations. It was great to see everyone dressed up in orange or cultural clothes, as well as getting to make rice paper rolls, watch a cooking demonstration and do some Bollywood dancing!

Coco: Harmony Day was super fun because we got to do lots of activities and wear casual clothes! My favourite activity was making Chinese dragon masks.

Location and directions in Maths

We have LOVED learning about directions and maps in Maths. We were able to play around with different pirate maps, searching for different objects using coordinates and adding in our own objects too. We were also lucky enough to play a fun blindfolded game too!

Charlie: The blindfolded game was lots of fun because we took turns to be blindfolded and the other person would direct them, using words like ‘forward’ and ‘backward’. They had to find Miss Bascombe on the playground!

‘The Journey Home’ narratives

Over the past term, we have been busy learning about narrative-writing, based on Alison Lester’s story ‘The Journey Home’. We have learned a range of interesting vocabulary that we have included in our stories and used excellent sentence structure!

Fabien: In Writing, we have been creating a narrative about ‘The Journey Home’. We split it up into three different sections - section 1: describing the setting, section 2: when the characters enter the ominous forest and section 3: when the characters see a familiar face and find their way home. We put lots of vocabulary in them like illuminate, ominous and trembling. It was very fun!
