Excursion to Campaspe River

On Tuesday 14th March, Year 4 students had a very successful excursion down to the Campaspe River to launch our involvement with the River Detectives program for the year and continue our studies on the history of Carlsruhe. On the way out to Carlsruhe we stopped to look at the toll rocks and change shed on Cobb and Co road and discussed the significance of the area during the gold rush era. Down at the river, students participated in a number of experiments to test the health of the river, analyse and map the habitats along the river bank and follow the Yelka trail, a track following the river bank and detailing the importance of the river to the Taungurung people. A big thank you to Tracy, Christie and Bec for accompanying us on the excursion.

Thursday Activities

We have been blown away with the parent and grandparent support we have had for Thursday activities out at Carlsruhe this term. Thank you to all those who have shared our enthusiasm for all things Carlsruhe and come along to help up run these important experiences for students, that help make Carlsruhe unique. We have two more afternoons of activities next term for this rotation.

Animal Holiday Care

Thank you to those families who are taking care of our animals during the holidays. In the next few days we will send out a Google Doc to those families and ask them to please enter their contact details so they can arrange to swap the animals around the middle weekend of the holidays with the family who is taking care of them before or after you.

Wetter weather

As we start to have some wetter days out at Carlsruhe, the mud has started to appear. To try and keep the classrooms clean we ask students to remove their shoes before entering the classroom. Students are welcome to bring slippers to wear in class if they want to. They are also encouraged to bring gumboots to save their shoes from getting muddy when completing outside jobs.

Change of classes at Carlsruhe

Just a reminder that we are nearing our first class swap out at Carlsruhe. On Monday 15th May CU2 will commence their time at Carlsruhe, while CU3 will return to the main campus.
