From the Principal

Dear Parents and Carers,

I hope the long weekend has provided some time for students and their families to rest and relax whilst enjoying the warm weather.

This week our year six students head off to Camp Coolamatong, located near Paynesville in Victoria’s East Gippsland Region.  Camp is an important opportunity for students to challenge themselves and further build resilience and interdependence.  I will be joining the camp group on Wednesday the day’s activities.

NAPLAN - Year Three and Five Students.

Students in Years Three and Five will participate in the 2023 NAPLAN assessment program this week.  These assessments are mainly administered online over a two week period.

Request from Haven Early Learning Centre

I have received a request from the Director at Haven Early Learning Centre located opposite the school and parish site for St Simon’s families to refrain from using Haven’s carpark for school drop-off and pick-up activities.  I appreciate car parking is challenging in and around schools, however, safety and patience must be the higher priority.

St Simon’s and St Jude’s Zoo Experience - THIS SATURDAY

We have been overwhelmed by the response of the school families and staff with the ticket response to the Melbourne Zoo experience this Saturday starting at 5:30pm.

By now families should have received their allocation of tickets based on the orders placed through CDFPay.  Please contact the office if you have any queries about this.

Here is a downloadable map of the zoo outlining all of the activities and attractions available on the evening.

The Resilience Project - Parent and Carers Session - Coming up next Tuesday

As a Partnership School with The Resilience Project, I strongly encourage all school families to sign up for the upcoming Parent and Carers session on Tuesday 21st March at 6:30pm.

The Resilience Project is an initiative that supports our student well-being programs at St Simon’s , including a specific curriculum program for social and emotional learning that supports the strengthening of mental health.

Prep 2024 Enrolment is now open - CURRENT FAMILIES

Any current family who has a child starting Prep in 2024, you are encouraged to enrol now via the School website.  This year we have transitioned to a digital enrolment form workflow, with the facility to upload all relevant documents as part of the experience.  Please visit the school website and click “Apply Now”.  We appreciate you actioning this sooner than later as this help prepares for future school planning and resourcing.
