Principal's Update
Paul Clohesy
I am writing this article from Cave Hill Creek - the site of the Year 12 Retreat where students and staff have come to reflect, unite and prepare for their final year of secondary education.
The same process is being undertaken by the Year 11 cohort and we can't underestimate the the importance of taking time out of busy schedules to reflect on what is important in the lives of students, being grateful for all the opportunities they have been provided by their families and their school, and also understanding how to deal with the pressures of senior schooling.
At the same time our Year 10 students have been enjoying their adventure camp on the coast. Last week it was our Year 9's tackling their overnight trek on the Beechy Rail Trail.
These events are not possible without the commitment of staff, support of families and participation of students.
I would like to commend our students on how they have conducted themselves on each of these camps.
Because we split our Year 10 camp into two groups, we have had students involved in social justice activities back at school. The students have done an amazing job cooking hundreds of meals for distribution through the Colac Kindness Network, St Vinnies and our own Food Bank.
They have also been involved in clean-ups and with Colac Otway Shire at Joiner Reserve and along the lake foreshore, improving those areas for others to enjoy.
I congratulate the students on their selfless involvement in these activities and thank the teachers, kitchen staff and wellbeing team for making this possible.
Next week we commence NAPLAN testing and we are gearing up for our Open Day on March 22 where we look forward to meeting with prospective students and families.
Staff and students will be conducting tours of our College, meeting new families and demonstrating The Trinity Difference in action.
Please enjoy your long weekend and good luck to all those competing in summer sport finals over the next couple of weeks.
Kind Regards
