Summer Sport Finals

Congratulations to the First XI Cricket side on their astonishing victory in the ISA Grand Final last Saturday 11 March.

The First XI snatched back the ISA Division 1 Cricket Shield in a hard-fought victory over last year’s winners, St Augustine’s College. Batting first, our boys were dismissed in just 23 overs on 86 runs. The First XI bowlers had their work cut out for them with the mammoth task on their hands, but didn’t they deliver! Charlie Gray with three outstanding wickets (no better than his bowl and diving left-handed catch) and Captain Cooper Edwards taking his third wicket to dismiss the visitors on a score of just 78 runs. Congratulations to Mr Simpson and the First XI on this well-deserved and memorable win on Breen Oval.

St Patrick’s was also well represented in nine ISA Basketball Grand Finals on Saturday at Penrith Basketball Stadium. Congratulations must be extended to the 17C, 15D, 13C and 13 Black teams on winning their final and claiming an ISA Premiership title. Well done to the 17B, 14C, 14D, 13B and 13D on reaching their finals.

We wish the best of luck to the 14 Black Cricket team who will play their NDJCA Grand Final this coming weekend after a convincing 205 run win in the semi-finals. We also wish the best of luck to the First IX Baseball team who will be in their RHBL Grand Final this Saturday playing at Majors Bay. Let’s get behind them and make the effort to support these teams this weekend.

Winter Sports Trials

A reminder Winter Sports Trial schedules can be viewed on the sports notice boards or SPC App. Attendance at all trials/training sessions is compulsory. Any request to miss a session needs to be directed to the relevant MIC and me by parents/carers well in advance.

I kindly ask you to please read Mr Fochesato’s, Director of Co-curricular article addressing the Winter Sport Clarification of Selection Process and highlights the College’s Training Off-Site Protocols.

House and Age Athletics Championships

The 88th Annual Athletics House and Age Championships took place at the Sydney International Athletic Centre, Sydney Olympic Park yesterday. Some inclement weather during the day had some thinking it would have been more appropriate to bring a towel and goggles rather than spikes and sunscreen.

Well done to those students who completed in Championship events. Unfortunately, there were several field events unable to be held given the heavy rainfall. It has been decided these events will be postponed until later this term and as a result, we will see the announcement of Age Champions take place once these events have been completed.

As the students splashed around on the track, they did their very best. Congratulations to Rice House who found themselves lift the Championship Shield for the win.
