In & Out of the Classroom

St Virgil's Reads
St Virgil's College is taking part in the 'Australia Reads' initiative this month to promote and encourage the joy of reading.
Kindergarten students were spoilt by a special book reading at Austins Ferry by College Captain, Thomas Marr, and others from the Junior School were inspired to 'Get Caught Reading' by staff and parents/carers.
Today saw Senior School students read before each lesson, chapters of some new books were read during recess and lunch and students were invited to sit and relax in the library, including to share their favourite books from home.
Checkmate!
Chess Club at Austins Ferry is growing each week with record numbers today. Whether it be for fun or practice for upcoming tournaments, it's a favourite amongst the boys come rain, hail or shine.
Please see Mrs Windsor if you'd like to join Chess Club on Wednesdays, otherwise chess sets are available in the library each lunchtime.
Standup Paddleboarding
How's the serenity? The boys had a calm paddle down to MONA on a recent Outdoor Recreation adventure, however due to a strong current had to work hard to make it back to campus!
