Japanese

This week in Japanese:

Senior students Harmony Day in Japanese!

As we celebrated Harmony Week our students participated in various learning activities in their Japanese lessons.

YR3 and 4 students discussed what kind of words describe the essence of Harmony Day in class. We looked at Kanji characters to represent the meanings of the day and had a go at writing them. They did a great job, carefully writing their chosen Kanji characters. Well done YR3/4 students on your great ideas and fantastic Kanji writing!

YR5 and 6 students learned about diversity in music. They learned about a traditional Japanese musical scale - Okinawa scale (Okinawa is located in the southern area in Japan) and compared it to the Western scale that they are more familiar with. Later they created their own music using the Okinawa scale, composing some truly lovely tunes. Well done YR5 and 6!
