Grade 3/4 Students

Celebrating our tremendous Threes and fabulous Fours!

Literacy

We have continued our narratives this fortnight, working through the Seven Steps program. We have worked on 'Tightening Tension' (by slowly building up the problem in our story), 'Show Don't Tell' (using our senses and descriptive language to explain what is happening) and 'Exciting Endings' (having exciting and unexpected endings to keep the reader engaged).

Maths

We finished our measuring length unit and have started our data and graphing unit. We have looked at how to write a good survey question, how to collect data using tally marks and then how to graph our data accurately. Here is an example of a survey question a student came up with, asked their class and then plotted the data.

Harmony Week

We celebrated Harmony Week by participating in many activities to explore and celebrate our multiculturalism. We also looked at some of the history of immigration to Australia and the many cultures and traditions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Here is a display 3/4C made in Japanese, writing the Japanese words for friendship, respect, peace, kindness and harmony.

Team Building Day

On Tuesday, 3/4 students participated in a team building day and rotated through a variety of group activities. They worked on actively participating, communicating, compromising, taking on different roles and showing respect and kindness. Below, you can see our STEM Boat Challenge, 'A Minute to Win It', Drama Games and Crafty Camouflage Activity.
