Foundation Students

Celebrating our fabulous Foundies!

Literacy

Great job boys! We have been loving our letter craft sessions in Foundation. These students did wonderful job following the tricky directions and creating their ‘R’ for rainbow. Letter craft is great for our fine motor skills and following steps, while also consolidating letters.

Maths

In Maths this week we have been learning about ‘pictographs’. This ice-cream scoop lesson was a great visual to introduce the topic and create a discussion with students about what they can see. Students are learning to utilise the language of ‘least popular’ and ‘most popular’ to describe the graph. We compared this to a tally and discussed what they thought. Most agreed this was easier to understand!

Wellbeing

We have been continuing to explore the ‘Zones of Regulation’. This week and last week we spoke about strategies or ideas to help us get back to the green zone. We looked around the classroom and discussed all the ways we already know. We chatted about the different types of breathing activities we do, that we have a calm down basket (sensory basket) and that we do lots of others things too! Students chose their favourite strat from a list with pictures to create their own set of things they can do. They will be bringing these home, so you can check them out and you might also want to create your own list at home for some self-regulation ideas.
