Year 7 Camp

March 2023

Camp Toolangi

On Thursday 9th February, Year 7 students travelled up to Camp Toolangi for their two day orientation camp. This camp gave everyone a great opportunity to get to know one another and their teachers in a different environment and make some new friends for the start of high school.

With some warm temperatures on both days students took it in their stride and demonstrated our school values of courage and community in a wide range of activities such as High Ropes, Raft Building, Archery and Rock Climbing.

We had our Year 10 Peer Support students join us and they assisted year 7s with various activities.  They led the form groups through some fun sessions which helped everyone feel more comfortable with each other.

One of the highlights of camp was seeing so many Year 7 students participate in the talent show with many hilarious acts that had the whole camp in stitches. Stand out performances included amazing dance sequences and funny skits.

A big thank you to the staff that attended the camp and made it such a great experience for all the students. I am sure that everyone left camp with some amazing memories, stories and some new friends for their years to come in high school.

Below is a reflection from one of our Year  7 students on their experience of camp:

On Thursday the 9th of February the Year 7s went to Camp Toolangi. When we arrived, we were assigned to our cabins and given our activity groups. Our first activities were the Obstacle course and Archery, these were fun and educational. After our meal that night we had the year 7 Talent Show, it was a huge success and a great night for all. The next day we had the opportunity to build huts and go on the flying Fox, both of which were very fun. We came back home on Friday after enjoying two very busy days on Camp, the year 7 Camp was an amazing experience and a great way to make new friends - Faith Samuel 7C
