Interview with Lillian Kleinman
Our 2023 Arts Captains, Chloe and Hannah, recently interviewed Lillian Kleinman, the creator and student leader of the Art Club. Here’s what Lilly, (Year 11) had to say about the club:
First of all, what is Art Club?
Lilly: Art club is a space for everyone to come together and create the things they love and get feedback and suggestions and to explore different materials and different ways to create their art!
How did you go about starting this club?
Lilly: Starting this club took a bit of hard work but with the help and big thanks to Abigail Butcher, and Sophia Sais (2022 art captains), Mr. Razaai and Ms. Georgina Walton, they helped make all this possible. This year we have Chloe Burley and Hannah Wright (2023 Art captains) to help and support the club as well!
What does Art Club provide that regular art classes don't?
Lilly: Art Club provides students the freedom of exploring different materials and art forms that they might not typically use! Our club provides more independence and liberty of your work instead of having a certain way of doing something or creating one specific thing, as you might in class.
What were you able to achieve in Art Club last year?
Lilly: Last year, the art club did multiple art works for the school… one of our members Madison created this year’s 2023 school planner’s front cover.
What would be your hope for the art club moving into the future?
Lilly: Moving into the future, I hope the art club can contribute art work in to the community, places around the school, maybe showing off our artworks in local places but mostly to help the students produce their best artworks, and help encourage them to explore other resources than what they might normally use.
