Year 10 Aqua Camp
The highly anticipated Year 10 Aqua Camp was again enjoyed in recent weeks, with the group based at Merricks for four days and undertaking activities all around the Mornington Peninsula. Three different streams of activities were on offer to cater for different swimming levels and preferences, and evening activities provided opportunity for students to relax with friends and share about their experiences that day. All students participated in snorkelling and Stand-Up Paddling sessions, and then each of the SCUBA, Surfing and Boating streams had additional activities that centred around their theme. Some very windy weather in the first two days led to some challenging snorkelling experiences and we were proud of the resilience and persistence shown by the groups, and thankful for improving conditions as the week went on. It was a pleasure to take this group away and I am very grateful to the team of dedicated teachers who enthusiastically accompanied the groups and made such an amazing experience possible to offer to our students.

Before going on this camp, I was worried about SCUBA diving as it was my first time trying it out. After the two days, I just want to DO IT AGAIN! The undersea world is spectacular, all the creatures are within our reach, and it was such an extraordinary experience. A massive thank you to our instructor Steve; he is an amazing diver and if it wasn't for his encouragement, I probably wouldn't be able to make it through the whole diving session. Other than the water activities, the free time we had was a great opportunity to bond as a whole year level, it's great seeing our year level come closer and closer. Tasman Fong (10.2)
This has by far been the best camp, not only because of the activities, but also the community it created. Being in a group that wasn’t filled with my friends gave me a great opportunity to further relationships with others and I didn’t even really get the chance to miss them because there was plenty of time back at camp and the activities were incredible and kept me busy. Personally, doing SCUBA diving has been one of the greatest experiences of my life. The world underneath is in a realm of its own and to experience God’s creation was a beautiful part of this camp. We had three opportunities to SCUBA so even when one wasn’t as good because of the visibility it didn’t matter too much because there were other opportunities. The instructors were so patient and great to work with and our teachers were so much fun giving us freedom to explore new things in a safe environment. I would do this camp over and over again and I am sure many in my year level would agree they'd do it again. Chloe Daly (10.1)
This camp was truly amazing, giving us all the opportunity to learn skills, abilities, and make new friends. We are all so grateful for the effort put in by Mrs Bell and other staff to give us this once-in-a-lifetime experience and make it the incredible experience it was. Roman Young (10.3)
The paddle boarding was heaps of fun, as it was something that everyone could do, and because there weren’t strict rules with having fun in the water with your mates. Unfortunately my group missed out on the full snorkelling experience as the water was murky and the weather wasn't on our side, but thankfully the teachers allowed us (along with the snorkelling instructors) to do pier jumping instead of swimming in murky water or going back to the camp to do nothing. I'm sure I speak on behalf of my group that the pier jumping was a highlight of the camp, and thanks to our Oxley staff and snorkelling instructors we still made a memory that will last a lifetime. Jas Rogers (10.1)
A fantastic experience. Despite only having short sessions for each activity, the overall introduction was very enjoyable and packed with different adventures, giving everyone an opportunity to try out new skills and see amazing animals and environments above and below the water. Friends were given many opportunities to interact with each other and have a great time together over the course of the entire camp. Eco Zhou (10.2)
I liked how all the guide teachers were so nice and always had a smile on their face even if they had to help us out a couple of times. They put in so much effort to make sure that everyone was safe and comfortable so we could enjoy the activities. Munraj Mangat (10.3)
