The Gruffalo

We are learning about the purpose of narrative. We read “The Gruffalo” by Julia Donaldson together, and looked closely at the characters, setting and plot. The students then had the opportunity to create their own character, setting and plot, in preparation for writing a story next week. 

Students are learning to predict when reading. We learned to predict at different points of the story, including predicting at the start, middle, as well as thinking about what might happen after the story. 

Students have also been in the NMPS garden looking at worms through magnifying glasses and watering the blooming plants in the garden. We are collecting sticks and twigs for our insect hotel, which they will be making next week!
