Harmony Week

Harmony Day takes place on the 21st of March 2023. The event occurs on this day each year and has done for over 20 years. The day itself marks an important date, as the 21st of March is the International Day for the Elimination of Racist Discrimination. Whilst Harmony Week is a uniquely Australian event, it coincides with global efforts for the promotion of equality and inclusivity, centring on Harmony Day. Harmony Day is the focal point of the Harmony Week celebrations.

At NMPS, we celebrated Harmony Week in our classrooms with a number of activities and with our Harmony Day picnic on Tuesday 21st March. It was lovely to see the school community come together to acknowledge this important date, despite the weather!

This week we have our Ride2School Day on Friday 24th March. Ride2School Day is a national event, and we encourage your family to join in the fun and ride, walk, scoot or skate to school on Friday!

At NMPS, we encourage all families to walk, scoot, ride or catch public transport to school as often as possible every day. Please don’t forget your helmets!

The School Council plays a key role in enhancing the educational opportunities for all students and strengthening community bonds. All School Councils are encouraged to have a number of sub-committees to assist in the work that needs to be done. Sub-committees provide advice and make recommendations to School Council.

The Sub-committees formed for North Melbourne Primary School are listed below

  • Finance
  • Biz-E-Kidz
  • Education
  • Building and Grounds
  • Communication and Engagement

NMPS also has an active Parents & Friends Association, which is accountable to the school council. We encourage community members to join the Parents & Friends Association to continue to strengthen our community engagement. Please refer to information in previous newsletters and our website about how to join the P&F Association.
