Swimming results

Division swimming was a great experience and we would like to tell you about it.

By Xavier, Year 5

Xavier’s race was one of the last races and it was very exciting. It started off with me standing on the block determined to win. When I heard the go sound, I jumped off the block and started swimming the butterfly stroke. I was doing well but when I took my breath I saw one person in front of me which made me second. I was pretty happy with my position so I sped up to keep my position or to catch up. But in the end I was 5th. I was still happy with my position because I raced with the 11 year olds.

By Dylan, Year 5

Dylan did the freestyle relay with three other swimmers. This is how our race went.

When it started our first racer, Kevin C got off to a brilliant start. He did incredibly well. Then it was Andrew! I was the 3rd racer and when it was my turn I went full on to give our last teammate a head-start. I was getting a bit tired towards the end but I pushed myself and did really well. When I finished, I was so exhausted that I found it difficult to get out of the pool. Fortunately my teammate was there to help me out. Matthew swam, and finished well. In the end we finished 4th out of 9 teams. I am still very proud of my teammates. And I wish luck to everyone going to Regional finals.

When we got there we saw heaps of kids from different schools and lots of parents. It was amazing to see how fast they all were. When it was our turn to swim the relay, it was slightly scary, but I was mostly excited. Kevin got us off to a great start, he was flying down the pool. Next came Andrew and then it was Dylan’s turn. They both swam super hard. I was last, as soon as Dylan touched the wall, I dived in and swam as fast as I could. We were so close to third place, but a speedy swimmer caught me right at the end and we came fourth.

Overall it was a great day and I had heaps of fun.
