Year 7 Transition
Year 7 students have transitioned well with the support of the First Thing’s First and Connect programmes, with a focus on organisation, well-being, and academic success.
Some of the big events throughout Term 1:
We’ve had a record number of clubs held across each week, all based on student voice and agency. This term we’ve had: Chess Club, Breakfast Club, Chronicle Club, Mindfulness Club, Coding Club, Gaming Club, D&D, Art Club, QSA and Study Club.
Year 7 Visit to Hume Global Learning Centre
Today was the first of each Year 7 form visit to the Sunbury Hume Global Learning Centre, these will occur over the coming weeks.
There was a lot of learning about the services available discovery of books, opportunities for study and collaboration and facilities at Hume Global Learning Centre - Sunbury. A big thank you to Michelle and the team who enabled this connection and shared such a valuable resource with students and staff.
Well done to all Year 7 students for their efforts throughout Term 1. Looking forward to fun and exciting times ahead!
We hope all students and families have a restful break.
Brainstorm Incursion
Brainstorm Productions performed for our Year 8 cohort on Thursday the 16th of March. The session focused on cyber bullying and mental health, sharing strategies for resilience, help-seeking and positive relationships. The live performance explored school-related pressures of meeting assignment deadlines and juggling social interactions, both positive and negative. After the performance, students engaged in an in-depth discussion about challenges and strategies to overcome cyber bullying and support positive mental health. Students then engaged in further unpacking of content within their class, to truly explore the learnings from the incursion.
Year 8 Camp
Our focus for the Year 8 camp is for students to build on positive relationships and develop resilience by participating in a range of adventure activities. Students attended Forest Edge Camp in Neerim East from Monday 20th – Wednesday 22nd of March. The long drive proved to be well worth it, as students were given the opportunity to partake in numerous activities such as: rock climbing, archery, bushwalking, high ropes, disk golf, water sledding, crate climbing, flying fox, water slide and more. The evening allowed for a range of run, including Monday Night Games – where students participated in Minute to Win It games and old-school relays such as the 3-legged race and the wheelbarrow race. Some students opted for a quieter setting in the evening, proving mindfulness and board games to be a big hit!
It was truly a wonderful experience, with students bringing a positive mindset and a great deal of energy. Well done to all Year 8 students for their efforts over the 3 days!
Zone Bowling
This term, students in Years 8, 9 and 10 who received a 3.9 or above on their first Work Habits Cycle had the opportunity to attend an excursion to Zone Bowling at Watergardens. Students had some free time at Watergardens before playing 2 games of bowling, where they got to show off their skills.
Students are to be commended for their hard work, respect for their learning, upholding the school values and should be proud of their efforts to continually be role models to other students within the school.
We are looking forward to recognising students for exceptional Work Habits in Term 2, with an included focus on students who have been able to show growth in their results.
