2022 Sport

 

After a couple of difficult years, Calrossy Sport is back in 2022. We’re excited for the return of our regular sports program, our representative sport program, and some exciting new opportunities for students this year.

 

The Hub will the location for specific sports information, including draws, registration details, and team lists.

Junior School Sport

 

We are very keen to have willing parents take on coaching or team managing roles for their students’ teams. Please contact sport@calrossy.nsw.edu.au if you are willing and able.

 

Junior School Swimming Trials.

Junior School (2-6) will travel to Scully Park Pool for swimming trials on Thursday, February 3rd. These trials are not competitive and are used by the school to place students in competitive, or social races at the Swimming Carnival. Students will be bused to and from Scully Pool, and supervised by Calrossy Staff.

 

Swimming Carnival

The Swimming Carnival will be on the 11th of February at the Olympic (Town) pool. Information is available on The Hub.

 

Touch Football

In term 1, Calrossy will be entering teams into Touch Football competitions to begin in week 5. Information can be found on The Hub on the Junior School Touch Football page. We are very keen to have willing parents take on the coaching or team managing role for their students’ teams. Please contact sport@calrossy.nsw.edu.au if you are willing and able.

 

Basketball

Calrossy will enter teams into teams for the Winter (Term 1 & 2) Competition. Information found on the Junior School Basketball page on The Hub.

 

Cricket

Calrossy will enter teams into teams into Cricket competitions for 2022. Can be found on the Junior School Cricket page.

 

Tennis

HRIS Tennis Trials for CIS are taking place in February. Information on Junior School Tennis page on The Hub. Contact sport@calrossy.nsw.edu.au for more information.

Secondary Sport

 

Swimming Carnivals

Both Girls and Boys Swimming Carnivals will be held on the 10th of February. The girls carnival will be at the Tamworth Olympic Pool (Corner of Bridge St and Cable Ave), and the Boys carnival will be at Scully Park Pool. (Corner of Kent and Belmore Street, South Tamworth). A swimming note will be emailed to parents in the coming days. 

 

Tennis

Tennis Tuition is available on site at Calrossy on the Brisbane St campus. Mr Ralph Lawrence is a highly experienced Tennis coach with over 30 years experience, and is the Head Coach and Program Coordinator. Both individual and group tuition is available. Touch Football

Calrossy will enter teams into the Touch Football Competition. Touch is played on Wednesday nights. Registration information can be found on The Hub.

 

Basketball

Calrossy will enter teams into teams for the Winter Competition (Terms 1 & 2). Information found on the Secondary Basketball page on the Hub. Basketball is played is played on Wednesday nights.

 

Open Boys basketball try outs for the HRIS Team (not the Calrossy team to play at HRIS) closes on 14th February. Contact sport@calrossy.nsw.edu.au for more information.

 

Water Polo

Calrossy will enter teams into the Water Polo Competition. Water Polo is played on Monday nights.

 

Bouldering

Bouldering continues at Freestyle Bouldering gym. Teams climb on different afternoons, see Mrs Mrs Eather to get your team name so you can register! 

 

Cricket

Term 4 2021 teams will continue on from last year to compete the 2021/22 season. A Year 7 team is being compiled. Year 7 students wishing to join the team should email sport@calrossy.nsw.edu.au to join the team.  A number of friendly fixtures are being explored. More information will follow. Target Shooting

A small number of places are available on our brand new Calrossy Shooting Team. Students ages 12 years or older are invited to express their interest for shooting in Terms 1 & 2. Follow the Shooting page on The Hub for more information. Places are filling fast.

 

Netball

Netball teams will be organised throughout Term 1 in preparation for the Term 2 and 3 competition. Trials for team allocations will take place in a couple of weeks.

 

Identified Athletes Program

Calrossy will be partnering with Rural Fit Tamworth to deliver a pilot Identified Athlete program in 2022. Places in the program are limited, and athletes will be required to apply.

The Program is aimed at assisting Calrossy student athletes to achieve to their full potential in their chosen sport. The program involves testing, data analysis, injury prevention, strength and conditioning, nutritional advice, special guests, and ongoing evaluation. Uniform Return

We are desperate for students to return their uniforms, jerseys, and any other items of team uniforms that have not been returned. If parents and student could be please prioritise the return of uniforms, we would be extremely grateful.
