Junior School Term One Reports

This year, Junior School Learning Goals and Emotional/Social Goals will be recorded in Astra, replacing the previous Progress Goals grid Report on Astra. Teachers will begin to set the Goals for students this term and may update the final Term Goals after discussions with you at the Parent-Teacher Interviews.

Goals and achievements can be used to engage the student in their unique learning journey. As students demonstrate their abilities in class or via assessments, goals can be converted into achievements by the teacher. These goals and achievements are represented as badges. The process of setting goals and converting them into achievements effectively delivers recognition to the student outside of standard assessment methods. These records of achievement will span through the primary years into secondary school. The goals and achievements are visible inside each student’s profile page on their activity feed and within the ‘Achievements’ tab.

After the Parent Teacher Interview with your child’s classroom teacher; the teacher will complete an Astra Wellbeing Record giving you direct feedback from your meeting. By the end of Week Four Parents will receive a one page Parent-Teacher Record which can be accessed via the Astra “Academic Reports” icon. This record will include a copy of the feedback from the Parent-Teacher Interview and the Learning and Emotional/Social Goals (Astra Goals) set by teachers for your child.

Senior School Continuous Reporting on Astra

For most subjects, each time students undertake any specific assessment task, the subject teacher will provide written feedback on the task and the grade achieved on Astra. Feedback on general progress will be provided online each term, including a summary of your child’s effort and dedication to the subject in general.

Parents receive notifications via Astra. At the end of the year, Parents will also receive an online Academic Report - “Statement of Results”.

Accessing Reports via Astra

Academic Reports:

You can access your child’s PDF Report via Astra - https://astra.girton.vic.edu.au. The “Academic Reports” button is located under your child’s photo, to the right of their Timetable button. Select this and you will see all the Girton Academic Reports, along with Merit Certificates from 2020.

Online Grades view:

To view all of your child’s grades and feedback, log in to Astra - https://astra.girton.vic.edu.au Then select the ‘Grades’ tab underneath your child’s photo, you will see a full overview of any published grades and comments. You can also select the relevant subject from the drop-down list. You can also access the published ‘Grades’ by clicking on the notification you receive to go directly to the feedback. Please select the FAQs icon located on your parent Astra dashboard to help with accessing Grades and other helpful hints. Under the sub-heading Parent FAQs, you will find links to instruction pages and helpful Video tutorials from a past parent information session.

Other Reports:

Only Girton Grammar Academic Reports are available via this Astra Icon. If you want to view other reports e.g. NAPLAN you need to select “Documents” on your opening page, then click on your child’s name to the right of the screen, and the other reports will be under the subheading of “Government Reports”.

On Astra, you can also see your child’s Timetable, Calendar, Due Work and lots more by selecting your child’s name on the left-hand side of the home page. To return to the Astra home page, click the Astra logo on the top left.
