Prayer

Prayer is a central part of many faiths around the world. It is an inclusive action that brings communities together for various reasons. There are also many types of prayers of engagement that bring us closer to God. For eg: Prayers of petition, praise, thanksgiving, adoration and repentance.

At St Therese, students and staff pray everyday - in the morning, afternoon, grace before eating and at staff gatherings each week. It is an important part of our Catholic tradition as well as many other faith traditions which allows us to come together as a school community. It also contributes to faith formation and our connection with our God.

Prayer features in many parts of the Bible, both in Old and New Testaments. Prayer can be both formal and informal and we teach our students how to pray in many different contexts and opportunities. Jesus taught us prominently about prayer. He gave us the model prayer The Our Father and reminded us of the need to forgive when we pray.

Prayer is powerful, allowing us to put ourselves in the hands of God. Jesus taught us to pray in His name. “Whatever you ask in My name, that will I do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask Me anything in My name, I will do it” (John 14: 13-14).

Please find attached, a copy of our School Prayer.

I always remember the quote learnt as a child: 'A family who prayers together stays together'. I invite you to pray as a family as often as possible.

Here are some work samples from our Junior students demonstrating their understanding of prayer and God's love.

Sacramental Program 2022

At St Therese, we participate in the St Agatha’s Parish Sacramental Program. As such, the program is Parish based, School supported and Family centred.

At present, the 2022 Sacramental Program sent to you late last year is going ahead as scheduled.

Please find it attached below for your reference. Please place the dates into your diary.

Sacrament of Reconciliation

The Sacrament of Reconciliation is the first Sacrament we prepare and celebrate in Term One.

Families who intend their children to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation need to ensure students are in Year 3 or above, have been baptised and understand the difference between right and wrong.

The Reconciliation Information and Parent Workshops occur very early in the term. Please attend ONE of the following workshops (students do not need to attend this workshop):

  • Wednesday 16th February 2022 at 7p.m

Lots of information and enrollment documents are shared at the workshops. Both workshops will be held in the St Agatha’s Church. Please adhere to COVID protocols and sign in using the QR Code, wear a mask and have your Digital Vaccination Certificate ready to be viewed by the COVID Marshals.
