What's Happening at CHPS....

Thank you to all of the families who offered to look after our school chickens over the long holiday break.

We have now notified all allocated families responsible for the chicken care. If you did not receive an email, we thank you for your kind offer and will keep you in mind for future holidays!

Library News

Thank you to all those students who have found and returned their missing books, or paid for them. We still have 39 overdue books with a value of $580 out to students; three of these students are in Year 6 which is concerning, as they will not be returning next year. I will not be sending out any further emails regarding overdue books this year. I have sent out Third Notices to those with books overdue due to lockdown, and sent out first notices (not emails) to those who have books overdue since we returned this term. If you are unsure and want to check whether your child still has an overdue book, please email me at susan.offer@education.vic.gov.au. Further notices regarding overdue books will be sent out next year if they remain overdue.

I received an email from Eastern Regional libraries which reminded me of some of the activities that they have on over the holidays. One of the ones that caught my eye was ‘Book Bingo’ which starts on 13th December. This is not up on the ERL website yet but the competition will run until 4th February. If you are a member of our local library (membership is free) you probably received the information as well. It is worth thinking about becoming a member of your local library, they offer so many wonderful services, and of course so many wonderful books for you to borrow and read.

Also, if you are looking for things to do over the holidays it is worth checking out the State Library of Victoria website at slv.vic.gov.au which has free exhibitions as well as activities that cost.

Remember that to visit any library you will need to show proof of vaccinations before entry.

Have a great break, I look forward to hearing about the great books that the students read over the holidays.

Food For Families

This year CHPS is again proud to partner with Uniting in their annual Food For Families drive, providing food and other essentials for families in need over the Christmas period.

We are asking families to donate non-perishable foodstuffs and personal care items (see attached suggested shopping list), which can be left in the boxes now sitting in the Office foyer.

The Food for Families Appeal is expected to experience significantly greater demand this year, due to COVID-related pressures for many families and we thank those CHPS families who will be able to respond in the true spirit of Christmas giving.

Middle School Narratives

Last term, a group of our Middle School writers participated in writing workshops that aimed to improve their storytelling ability. Over a number of weeks, Mrs Cassidy guided them through the writing process and they are very excited to share their finished pieces with you today.
