Teaching

It has been my absolute pleasure to be part of the teaching profession for over 47 years. Teaching is a profession that is both challenging and fulfilling. Teaching is a rare combination of creativity, being a continual learner yourself and fun.  It is a privilege to work with students to help them develop, learn and have positive mindsets to embrace life’s challenges as continual learners.

The most important role that the school plays is to nurture students in a safe and supportive environment where they can flourish and be the best they can be. Every student can learn with support and belief in themselves.  School is not just teaching students to read, write and do mathematics, but also developing student’s character strengths, resilience and problem solving skills.

Croydon Hills Primary School is a wonderful place where the students are supported by amazing staff.  My stay at Croydon Hills has been the longest of my career as I have loved working here.  Staff highly value students as individuals and develop strong caring relationships with them.  The school also has a strong community where parents and teachers work together for the benefit of students.

The single most important reason to become a teacher is to have the opportunity to give back. Every teacher has that one teacher who went out of their way to make sure that they found their path. When you work with students, you have the amazing ability and responsibility to provide guidance and mentorship to an entirely new generation of young adults. It is our responsibility and duty to pass on our knowledge and leave the world better than when we first found it.
