Wellbeing News

Dear Sacred Heart Community,

Term One feels like it is well and truly underway and the positive start to the school year has been great. I wanted to explain a few changes that we have undertaken at Sacred Heart in 2022 in regard to monitoring behaviour in the yard.

There are 2 teachers on yard duty at both play and lunch time, assigned to monitor set areas of the playground. Each duty teacher carries a bag with first aid items, which is used for minor concerns and if there is first aid that needs more care, an icepack or a call home; then children are sent into the office.

The teachers are now carrying a folder to write down any wellbeing concerns/behaviours that we take note of during play and lunch time.  It also has a sheet to record positive behaviours, acts of kindness and those following our school rules to ensure that everyone in our school feels safe and comfortable during their break.

To reward positive behaviours we have begun using our Sport House Teams of Freeman (red), Whitten (blue), Cawley (yellow) and Bradman (green) to give out points each day to add to a tally each week. The tally will be displayed near the office and the multipurpose room. At the end of Week 5 and 9 of each term, the Sport House team that is in the lead at that time will receive a team reward.

We have begun this to have some fun and celebrate the great choices and actions of students that we see each day at Sacred Heart. It is also giving the children a sense of being part of a team after the last 2 years in lockdown and to encourage some House team spirit!

I look forward to sharing more wellbeing news with you next week,

Kind Regards,

Kate
