Nelson Mandela Youth Leadership Summit  - Legislative Assembly, Victorian Parliament

On Monday the 18th July, also known as Nelson Mandela day, 8 students from PHSC had the amazing opportunity to attend the Nelson Mandela Youth Leadership Summit at Parliament House. Only 7 of our students could make it, but it was nonetheless a great experience with many guest speakers and a variety of schools participating. PHSC even got a mention from the Ambassador of Ukraine for the support we are giving against the war in Ukraine by fundraising with our bake sale. It was an incredible learning experience and we all took a lot away from it. All of the guest speakers had different stories and backgrounds but could all agree that having optimism and being resilient and persistent is the start of a great leader. There were 6 speakers all discussing different types of leadership; Steve Rametse, Vasyl Myroshnychenko, Kathleen Lively, Daniel Bull, Amanda Wendt, and Lara Olsen. After this, the youth participants were invited to come up to the table and share their thoughts on optimism and leadership for the future. Everyone had their own in-depth views about what leadership means to them. It was an incredible day and all of the young leaders felt very empowered to create change. (Alice and Celeste. Y8)

Rolanda and Grace (Student Council Executive) report that the Student Council held a Bake Sale on 21st July to raise funds to support the people of Ukraine. We are pleased to report that $434.30 was raised which is a tremendous effort.

Remember, Student Council meets in R204 on Mondays between 12.35pm and 1.05pm.  We are considering our next projects and you might have a great idea.  All students are welcome.
