EXCEL Sport Program

2017 European Handball School Championships

On Tuesday 28th November the Year 9 EXCEL Sport class entered two teams into the first European Handball School Competition at Albert Park. The boy’s teams played four games against EMC 2 and 3, McKinnon Secondary College and Narre Warren South. It was soon apparent that our boy’s team was up against some much bigger opponents. PRSC competed extremely well throughout the day and finished with a draw and three close losses including against the eventual winners Narre Warren South.

The girl’s team were fantastic as well throughout the day. After three round robin games we were undefeated with 2 wins and a draw against Padua College who we would play in the grand final. Padua has been playing Handball for three years and while the result did not go our way, we matched it with a much more experienced opposition and were a credit to our school. Well done Year 9s.

NPD Lawn Bowls Championships

The Year 8 EXCEL Sport class competed in the inaugural Northern Peninsula District Lawn Bowls Championships at Carrum Bowling Club on Friday 3rd November. The class had been guided through a couple of clinics by volunteers at the Bowling Club on two previous occasions and were ready to compete against other schools. All of our teams competed well and were only ever marginally on the wrong side of the ledger. A fantastic event where boys and girls can compete on a level playing field against students of all ages. Well done.

T20 CRICKET MATCH STARS V RENEGADES

T20 CRICKET MATCH STARS V RENEGADES

The EXCEL Sport Program went to the MCG on Friday 8th December to watch a T20 cricket practice match between the Stars and Renegades. The students thoroughly enjoyed the experience and had photographs and autographs with the mascots and players. The match went down to the last over with the Stars winning the game. It is rare to get full access to the members area during a sporting event. An excellent way to celebrate the end of the year.
