How Now Brown Cow
Ever wondered how many animals pass through the Shepparton Sale Yards every week or why the cattle have coloured dots on their backs? For many years Hey Big Spender students have been visiting the Shepparton Sale Yards to learn about how animals are sold. Students have eagerly guessed the weight of animals before they go through the automatic weighing pen and worked out how much a pen of animals cost. They have listened eagerly to stories about the animals that escaped and the changes that have been made to the yards to make them more efficient. Ian McDermott and Jack Ladgrove who run the facility have gladly given up their time to share their knowledge with the students and answer many questions from the students. This was their last semester of sharing their knowledge and from every student and teacher who has participated in this excursion we thank them and wish them all the best for their retirement.
