Secondary Geography Field Trips

Dalet's Visit to Etiwanda Wetlands

In Geography this term, our year 7 and 8 students have been studying the topic of water.  On Tuesday, 28th February, students had the opportunity to undertake a field trip to the Etiwanda Wetlands, Mildura.  Bonnie Pettett, coordinator of Environmental Sustainability, and Nardia Baker, Environmental Sustainability Education Officer from the Mildura Rural City Council,  conducted a session with the students covering local water issues as well as conservation and management.   Miss Rachel Jasper and Dr. Tim, along with our bus driver, Mr Ian Storrar accompanied the students to the wetlands.  It turned out to be an exceptionally hot day but it was a valuable experience for the students!

Hey's visit to Benetook Farms

Our year 9 and 10 students have been studying the topic of biomes and food security in their Geography classes this term. On Wednesday, 8th March, the students had the opportunity to undertake a field trip to the Benetook Farm, Mildura. Their fieldwork involved surveying the land uses at the farm, helping with an egg collection (no, the eggs are not clean at this point as some students found ... challenging!) and other tasks related to the unit of study.  Miss Rachel Jasper and Mr Ian accompanied the students to the farm.   The program also included a maze challenge.
