St Mary’s Crazy Hair Day

St Mary’s is having a Crazy Hair and Casual Clothes day on Wednesday 3rd April (the last week of Term 1).

We encourage you to style your hair however you want.  You could have your hair spiky, wavy, curly or whatever you desire.

Premier's Reading Challenge

A pink consent form went home with each child on Tuesday.  We would love for as many children as possible to get involved in this fabulous challenge. All children who meet the Challenge will receive a certificate of achievement signed by the Victorian Premier and can choose to have their name included on the online Honour Roll.  The signed form only needs to be returned to school to give permission for your child‘s name to appear on the Honour Roll.

To meet the challenge you need to read the following numbers of books:

Prep – Year 2: 30 books (20 or more from the list to be read or experienced with families)

Year 3 – Year 6: 15 books (10 or more from the list)

Children will receive a checklist to record books and will be required to return these when they have completed the challenge.

Remember that at St Mary's students are to do 10-15 mins of Maths homework each night.  Maths Online (mathsonline.com.au) is available to all students.  They will have a unique username and password (given out by homeroom teachers) and have Maths tasks linked to the learning that is taking place inside the classroom.

Other Maths Homework tasks could unclude:

Looking for patterns in our world (letterbox numbers go up by 2's on each side of the road etc.)

Cooking, measuring, counting, halving, doubling etc.

Creating and solving counting patterns

Looking for different 2D and 3D shapes in the environment

Telling the time (on both digital and analogue clocks and watches)

*I am away this Friday, so I will begin awarding Mathsonline certificates at next week's (29/3) assembly!!!

All the best,
