Principal's Report

Dear Parents,

There is much happening around the school at the moment.

Today we celebrate Harmony Day.

Australia is one of the most successful multicultural countries in the world and we should celebrate this and work to maintain it.

Harmony Week is about inclusiveness, respect and belonging for all Australians, regardless of cultural or linguistic background, united by a set of core Australian values.

Why orange? Orange is the colour chosen to represent Harmony Week. Traditionally, orange signifies social communication and meaningful conversations. It also relates to the freedom of ideas and encouragement of mutual respect.

On the 4 April, the SRC have organised Crazy hair Day and casual clothes. The gold coin donation will go to Bethlem University in Israel to help sponser a Palastinian  student . We visited the University last year and witnessed the hardship of many students trying to make ends meet. Please participate in this special day and don't forget your donation.

Many of you would have noticed the new gate in Mansfield Street. I was very excited to say goodbye to the old gate which was falling apart. Also, the beautiful new carpet upstairs. Feel free to have a look in the 4/5 and 1/2NT classrooms, what a difference! Eventually the carpet will be replaced throughout the whole school.

Our House Sports is on next Friday 29 March at 5pm sharp. I look forward to seeing every family at the House Sports next Friday commencing at 5.00pm sharp. Please be there at 4.45pm the latest. We can not wait for late arrivals and we do not want children to miss their events. The venue is GEORGE KNOTT

ATHLETICS TRACK (Collingwood Harriers)

HEIDELBERG RD, CLIFTON HILL. After care

remeber to bring a picnic basket and

money for a sausage and drinks. Have a

great night and may the best team win

(Vaughan, I promise there is no rigging but

bribes will be accepted!) If you feel it is necessary to pick up your children early feel free to do so.

In the section 'OTHER NEWS' you will find some details about events. Please read

My thanks to Jane Grapsas, Emilie Owen and Jarrod Mullavey for taking parents through the classroom helpers program. As I have said many times, reseach tells us that parents who are active participants in their children's education do better. I want to see parents in classrooms helping in anyway that you can. Please feel free to approach your class teachers and spend some time in class. I can assure you it is very well worthwhile.

This week we say goodbye to Emilie Owen and wish her all the best in her new position. My thanks for your contribution to our school.

The lost property box is over flowing! Can parents please pop in to check for lost items. Anything left at the end of term will go to the second hand uniform shop. Thank you.

A huge congratulations to Matisse Gonopoulos who represented us at the Regional finals on Tuesday. Matissa did an awesome job coming 4th in her event, racing against some spectacular swimmers. Fantastic work Matisse.

Have a good week ahead, regards
