THE AUSTRALIAN LANGUAGES CURRICULUM: ENDORSED AND IMPROVED
On 18 September, 2015, the following Media Release was made by ACARA Communications and Strategic Relations:
Today the Education Council has endorsed Australian Curriculum in eight learning areas.
Amongst the released learning areas, we also received the Australian Curriculum for Languages - the Foundation – Year 10 Australian Curriculum for Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Modern Greek, Spanish and Vietnamese. More languages are still further developed and will be released at a later point.
This is an exciting time for all Language enthusiasts as the importance of Languages has been acknowledged in the Australian Curriculum as a key learning area.
In a global world and with regards to the aims of our CIS standards of educating students to become fluent in another language, Language educators appreciate the changes that should support the students´ learning of Languages in Australia.
