MUSIC DEPARTMENT

Great things are happening in the Music Department at the moment. VCE performance exams have started and students have prepared well for these. Students have been rehearsing and practising very hard to perfect their programs for these exams. Thanks to Mr Kurowski for allowing the VCE students to run full scale practice exams during the last holiday break.  Students who are yet to complete their performance exams are reminded to keep practicing each and every day.

VOCAL NIGHT

The second Vocal Night was held Tuesday 6 October in the Lecture Theatre. The standard was incredibly high with many amazing soloists performing to a very warm and receptive audience. Thanks to the light and sound technicians for allowing the students to shine in these performances.  A very big thank you to Ms Blanka West for her dedication in developing these students and organizing these events.

 

SENIOR SAXOPHONE STUDENTS PERFORMING AT DIZZIES JAZZ CLUB

Senior Saxophone students performed at Dizzies Jazz Club on Sunday 11 October. The afternoon, organised by Ms Rogerson, featured many of our senior students onstage with a rhythm section of professional jazz musicians and included an improvised performance from each student in front of an intimate live audience to play their favourite jazz charts. Quote from Alexia Samiotis (Year 12), "It was an amazing experience which forced us to use our creative knowledge of jazz music to spontaneously improvise with a real rhythm section."

SENIOR SINGERS PERFORM AT GENERAL ASSEMBLY

Congratulations to the Senior Singers who performed at the last General Assembly on Tuesday 13 October.  Their rendition of Lorde’s “Royals” was outstanding.

BIG BAND BASH

The Big Band Bash will be held Monday 26 October and will be one of the many major fundraisers for the trip to Cuba in 2016.  We look forward to seeing you all there. Tickets can be obtained through http://www.trybooking.com/JEXH

AMEB EXAMS

AMEB exams are coming up in the last week of October. We wish them all success.
