Staff News

I am pleased to announce the following new staff who will be with us at HCC next year:

Jessica De Zilva               

Head of Senior School (VCE English/Psychology teacher)

Jess is a very experienced teacher and leader, having held several leadership roles including Year 7/8 Coordinator and Deputy Head of Middle School and she is currently the Head of Senior School at Maranatha Christian School (Endeavour Hills).

Lisa Thomson                  

Secondary Maths/Science teacher

Lisa is known to many of us having completed teaching placements here and is currently teaching at Maranatha Christian School (Endeavour Hills).

Merry Sari                         

EAL/Secondary English teacher

Merry is currently teaching English and Indonesian at Berwick Secondary School.

Chris Simmons                

Head of Sport (PE teacher)

Chris is currently teaching at Northside Christian College and has held various leadership roles including Head of PE, Head of Primary and Director of Learning. He also has a wealth of experience in the Sport and Recreation industry.

Rebecca Vance                

Secondary Science/English teacher

We are really pleased that Rebecca will be joining us full-time after doing so well this term teaching Humanities classes.

Marie Therese Youssef 

French Teacher

Marie Therese is known to many of us having taught Prep-12 French here previously. She has more recently taught at Mount Scopus and Haileybury.

Steven Lay                       

Mathematics/Christian Studies teacher

Steven has done an excellent job as a CRT and will join us on our teaching staff next year.

Allison Hart                     

Private Music Lessons Coordinator

Allison and her wonderful children/family are known to many of us and we look forward to her joining our staff.

Paul Wheel

Head of Wellbeing (a full-time non-teaching psychologist/counsellor)

Paul has high-level qualifications in psychology and counselling and has a huge range of experience dealing with young people. He has also been a mental health nurse with specialised knowledge of working with vulnerable people and high-risk offenders.

He is currently working for the City of Cardinia and leads a team providing support for vulnerable youths, adults and their families. He will be a fabulous addition to our staff.

Sharmila Raymond

Marketing and Events Coordinator

Sharmila has done an excellent job as the College receptionist for the past 5 years and will join us as a Marketing and Events Coordinator next year.

We are also in the process of appointing new learning support staff and a new receptionist.

Food and Gifts Collection for the Salvation Army

Over the past few weeks, the Primary and Secondary students and staff held a food and gift drive to collect donations for The Salvation Army to distribute to families in need over Christmas. 

We would like to thank the HCC community for their kindness and generosity in the donation of food and gift items. All donations are much appreciated and will be a true blessing to those who receive them. Thank you.
